What to Expect at Your Dog's Mobile Grooming Appointment

Inside the Pawsh Pup Parlor grooming trailer: bathing tub and grooming table.

If you've only ever taken your dog to a salon, mobile grooming can feel like a small luxury you didn't know you were allowed to have. There's no nervous car ride, no drop-off window, and no picking your dog up hours later smelling faintly of kennel. Here's what a visit with Pawsh Pup Parlor actually looks like, from the moment you request an appointment to the moment your freshly groomed pup trots back through your front door.

Requesting an appointment

It starts with our appointment request form. You'll share your address and a few details about each dog: name, breed, weight, and the service you have in mind (Bath & Full Haircut, Bath & Tidy Trim, Bath & Outline Trim, or Bath & Blowout). If you'd like to add a Deshed Treatment or Anal Gland Expression, just check the box. Have more than one dog? Just add another to the same request.

There's also a notes box, and we really do read it. Tell us if your dog is shy with strangers, has sensitive paws, is coming in for their very first groom, or if you have a style in mind. The more we know ahead of time, the better the visit goes for everyone.

Once your request comes in, we'll follow up with your quote. Pricing depends on your dog's size and coat, so every quote is made for your pup. Before we schedule, we'll also ask for proof of your dog's current rabies vaccination, including the expiration date, and once you're booked we'll send over our booking paperwork. Once you're on the calendar, we'll send reminders by text or email so the day doesn't sneak up on you.

When the trailer arrives

On grooming day, our custom-built grooming trailer pulls up and parks right at your home.

A question we hear a lot is whether we need anything from your house. We don't. Our trailer is fully self-contained, and we bring our own water and power. You also don't need to clear a room, set up a tub, or clean up afterward. Everything happens in the trailer.

As for whether you need to be home: you don't have to be. If you're comfortable with it, we'll pick your dog up from your home and bring them back after the groom. Just tell us on your request how we should get your pup.

One-on-one, start to finish

This is the part dogs notice most. Inside the trailer, it's just your dog and their groomer. No crates, no row of kennels, no barking from a dozen other dogs, and no sitting around waiting to be picked up. That quiet, focused setting makes a real difference for anxious dogs, seniors, and puppies.

Every groom includes a bath and blowout, a thorough brush out, nail trimming and grinding, ear cleaning, teeth brushing and breath spray, a soothing paw and nose balm, a spritz of finishing cologne, and a bandana. For the bath, we use Chris Christensen shampoo. We chose it because it cleans thoroughly without stripping the coat's natural oils or leaving residue behind, so the coat feels soft and clean rather than dry or coated.

If your pup is new to grooming, we take it slowly. Our approach with puppies is gentle and gradual: short, positive introductions to the sounds, the table, and being handled, always at your puppy's pace. A good first experience sets the tone for every groom after it.

If you've booked for more than one dog, each one gets their own one-on-one time on the table.

Back home right after

When the groom is finished, your dog comes straight back to you, fresh, fluffy, and usually a little proud of themselves. There's no pickup to squeeze in after work and no long wait in a crate. Depending on your dog's size, breed, and service, a groom takes anywhere from about 30 minutes to 3 hours.

For a lot of our clients, this is the whole point. You get your time back, and your dog gets a calm, personal groom without ever leaving the neighborhood.

Keeping things consistent

Most dogs do best on a regular rhythm, and many of our Chesapeake and Suffolk clients like having their next groom already on the books. How often depends on your dog's coat, how much time they spend outdoors, and the look you like, so we're happy to talk through a schedule that makes sense for your pup.

Pawsh is groomer-owned, with a small team of groomers who care about getting to know your dog.

Ready when you are

If a calm, one-on-one groom in your own driveway sounds like a good fit for your dog, we'd love to meet them. You can request an appointment through our request form or give us a call at (757) 672-8666, and we'll take it from there.
